Health considerations

Why responsible breeding matters

Every breed carries its own strengths and its own things to watch, and no honest breeder will tell you otherwise. A family deserves the whole picture before they choose a puppy — not a sales pitch.

We would rather you ask us hard questions than wonder later. Here are the ones worth asking any breeder, including us. You can see each puppy’s parents, and their health testing, on the puppy’s own page.

What health testing do you do on the parents?
Every breeder should be able to answer this plainly and without hesitating. Ask what’s been done, and ask what hasn’t — some evaluations can only be done once a dog is fully grown, and a straight answer about that tells you more than a perfect one.
Can I see the results?
Testing means little if nobody can look at it. A breeder who publishes results, or hands them over when asked, is a breeder who expects you to check.
Can I meet the parents?
The parents show you the temperament and condition your puppy is growing into. Meeting them in the home where the litter is raised tells you things no document can.
What happens if something goes wrong?
Ask what’s guaranteed, for how long, and who picks up the phone in a year. The answer to this question is where good breeders and quick sales part ways.

Our story

Corgi puppies for sale in Arcola, Illinois

If you have decided a Corgi is the right breed for your family, here is what adopting one from us actually looks like. We are a small home program in Central Illinois — one breed, one or two litters at a time — and families come to us from across Illinois, Indiana and the surrounding states. We would rather you ask us everything before you decide than wonder about it afterward.

What a Corgi puppy costs
Every puppy's price is listed on that puppy's own page, so you always see it before you commit to anything. What matters more than the number is what is behind it: health-tested and genetically tested parents, a puppy raised with daily family contact here on our property, and a breeder who is still here a year later.
How to reserve one
A $600 deposit holds your place. It is fully refundable for 48 hours, it applies toward your puppy's price, and it can be transferred to another puppy or an upcoming litter. Joining the waitlist is a simple way to hear first when a litter you are interested in is planned.
What comes home with your puppy
At 10 weeks your puppy goes home vet-cleared, with a health certificate, age-appropriate vaccinations, a completed deworming protocol, microchip registration, a starter kit and a blanket carrying the litter's scent — plus 30 days of complimentary Trupanion coverage.
The guarantee behind it
Every River Ridge puppy comes with a 30-day Peace of Mind Health Guarantee and a 2-year genetic health guarantee based on parent genetic and OFA testing. We recommend a vet check within 10 days of go-home day, and we stay reachable long after that — call us any time.
